HIPPA and Patient Name in Email Reports

Post by Glenn » Sun Nov 13, 2005 3:50 am

Please remove or provide option to remove the Patient Name from the Status reports emailed each day, and week summaries. This is a HIPPA conflict as EMAIL is unprotected.

This is a good point, but is the report information still useful without the patient names?

I view the report as a letting you know it's been working.
Since the Patient Id is unique to the PacsOne application and does not show up on other patient records, there is not connection to the real patient, so on the Email the Patient Name is not needed and without it I believe the unsecure email HIPPA exposure is minimized.

Understood, and the users can always look up the Patient Name using the Patient ID.

We'll remove the Patient Name from the reports for the next release of PacsOne Server (version 3.1.8).
