Import from local folder

Post by jking0826 » Mon Jun 22, 2015 1:13 am

When I try to import from a local folder, I get a message that says the DICOMDIR could not be found. In addition the Job list shows "invalid import directory". I'm running PacsOne server on an external server, and accessing it with IE 11. I have a local folder called C:\PacsImport in which is the image data including the DICOMDIR file. How can I resolve this?

Thanks.

You need to make sure the Import Source Directory is accessible (Readable) to the user accounts that the Apache Web Server (or IIS) and PacsOne Server services are currently running as, as both services will need to read from that directory and parse any Dicom Part-10 formatted raw image files under that directory.

Thanks. But I'm confused by this response. Both the PacsOne and Apache services run under the local system account on the physical server. When I use the PacsOne web based interface from a local computer I'm logged onto that computer with a specific user name. This user has access to local folders/directories but this user has not started the services on the physical server.

For example I log into my computer with a user name of jking. This user has access to a folder called PacsImport. I logged into PacsOne as root and get the error. So I tried to create a new user in PacsOne called jking. I get an error, in French so I'm not sure what it says, but I was not allowed to create the new user.

So, how do I get the error messages in English? And why can I not create a user when logged in as root?

Thanks,

Jeff

There may be some confusion on my part about what is meant when the manual says "local directory". Since I use my workstation and load Internet Explorer 11 to run the web interface to my PacsOne server, I assume "local directory" refers to a directory or folder on my workstation. For example, whenever I configure upload, import or auto scan to use a folder on my workstation, I get an invalid directory message. Does PacsOne (web interface) have access to my local resources such as folders and CD ROM drive?

Thanks,

Jeff

The Import Source Directory needs to be specified in reference to the host/server where PacsOne Server is running, whether it's a local file system folder, e.g., "C:/Import/", etc, or a network-shared folder in UNC format, e.g., "\\remoteHost\remotePath\", etc. In other words, the full path for the Import Source Directory needs to be specified from the perspective of the host/server where PacsOne Server is running.

If you want PacsOne Server to import files stored on your client PC/workstation, a great option to consider is the cloud-based storage. For example, you can deposit the raw Dicom image files into the directory on your client PC that's synchronized with your cloud storage services, then you can install the cloud storage agent/app on the host/server where PacsOne Server is installed, and sync up a local directory there with the cloud storage. Once the sync is complete, you can then have PacsOne Server import from that local directory synced with the cloud storage to import all the raw Dicom image files deposited (and synced by the cloud storage) there.

Thanks! I will take your advice and look into the Cloud based system. Our institution does have an Enterprise account with Box, so I'll look into this.
