Vital Images Vitrea 4.0

Post by hyounker » Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:51 pm

Pacsone,

We have been running PACSONE 3.1.7 for a little over 2 years with no trouble. Thanks again for a great product.

Recently, one of the connected workstations was upgraded to newer software. Vital Images Vitrea Workstation was upgraded from 3.9 to 4.0. After the upgrade, we lost connectivity between PACSONE and Vitrea. Vital Images tech support logged in remotely and adjusted their PDU setting to 16,384 from the default value of 65,536. We regained connectivity at this point, but this seems to have slowed transfer speeds. Would a PACSONE upgrade be of any value at this point?

Thanks for any help.

PacsOne uses a default PDU size of 32 Kbytes, so you can try setting the PDU size of the Vitrea Workstation to 32 Kbytes as well to match with the value used by PacsOne.

But the PDU size should not be the source of the connectivity problem, as either PacsOne or Vitrea should be able to accommodate different PDU sizes. So you should probably check the PacsOne Server log (or similar logs on the Vitrea Workstation) when there is such problem.

Since my last post, I have learned the following:

Vital Images also found a data coercion error and realized that the technologists had assigned a different spelling to a patient's name but used the correct accession number. PACSONE also errored in the PACSONE log. The doctor decided to delete the study and reboot the Vitrea workstation.

This morning, I called Vital Images to discuss your reply to my post and we decided to try Vitrea's default, which is 64K. For whatever reason, it worked. We can assume this was negotiated to 32K. We are going to let things go for awhile, but hopefully, whatever problem we had is gone (probably with no real explanation!).

Also, do you see any reason for me to upgrade this server?

Thanks for your help.

You can check the history of changes from our Download page:

http://www.pacsone.net/download.htm

and decide whether you want to upgrade to the latest version or not.
