Purge Dicom Images in Export option
I was experimenting with this feature and, it seems that It is not working correctly. Can you tell me what the exact function is supposed to do.
I am wanting to Export to DIR for archiving on a DVD as a backup, and delete the images from the HD in order to save disk space...
Do you have any solutions as to how to implement a Archiving/Backup into a pacsone server system with a low-medium volume medical practice?
I would appreciate any ideas, thanks.

If the Purge Images After Export option is selected for an Export operation, then PacsOne will remove the stored Dicom images of the exported patient/study/series after the Export is complete. So this seems to be the feature you are looking for.
The Archive/Backup solution depends on your requirements or goals for this solution. Can you elaborate more on the details of what you need to accomplish with the Archive/Backup solution?

When i chose this option , all of the images in the Pacsone database are still there, I am wanting to Archive them onto a DVD, removing the Image files from the computer and storing them onto a DVD.
I am not understanding, if the images are purged (deleted), then how am I able to pull up the image from Pacsone.
Is there a way I can test if this function is working properly?

Yes, you can check the PacsOne Server logs or the Job Status page for the Export job to see if PacsOne has run into any errors while performing the Export.
PacsOne actually does not purge the exported study right away. Instead it schedules a job to do the purging after the export is complete for 24 hours (default), so that the exported study is still accessible for some grace period before it is purged.
You can check the Job Status page and see if there is any job with the job type of PurgeExport submitted and scheduled the next day. If so, the exported study will be purged when that job is run at the scheduled hour.

Thanks so much for all your help, It indeed (although 2 minutes later) showed up in job Status as PurgeExport. It has Purged the images, and I can actually see that If i click on Patiend ID, it will go to the study and select the study tells you that it has been Exported, and even tells you when and what media label to import from. This is very nice.
My one question is in the Browse menu there is no Flag, or Column telling you that the patient contains no images, you just click on the checkmark, (we use radscaper viewer) and click Show. I understand that radscaper is an optional program integrated with pacsone and it is not that way it is meant to be viewed. Is there anyway we can mark it as Archived(exported to media)?
Also I was wondering If there is anyone Pacsone will have an improved viewer included, the viewer it has is just not user friendly enough for the Doctors, and Techs we have come across.
Thanks for all your help, we will continue to use your product for many clients to come.

That is a good point you have above, as we do need some kind of indication of whether or not a patient has any images contained in its studies.
Using the Archived flag would not work for this purpose, since an archived study can either contain images or be empty.
How about we check the Number of Studies column in the Patient List page, and does not count any study that does not contain any images? This way, any study without images (e.g., like the purged studies after export) will not count in the Number of Studies column, and therefore the end-user will know that patient has no images if the study count is 0 (while it can actually has studies with 0 images like the purged studies).

I am not quite sure I know what you mean? Patient list page? is that the page that displays when i click Browse? or only the Home page ( all my images no longer show up in Home page) I am using a test Pacsone Server that had 115 patients imported, then I exported and purged all their images.
Is there a way to customize which fields show up on the Browse menu? or any menu?
I dont see anywhere where I can "Check" the number of studies column. I do not even see # of studies column in my Pacsone ( keep in mind no images, but 115 patients with purged images)
Thanks,
Bob

Yes, the Browse page is one of the web pages where a list of patients are shown, and there is a Number of Studies column displayed in the patient list.
The proposal is to skip those studies without any images for the total count in the number of studies, so that a patient with one empty study will be shown as 0 studies (instead of 1) in that Number of Studies column.
