Devices with same AE Title

Post by cdeem » Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:48 am

I have 3 devices that are at different physical locations and of course of different IP addresses, but they do have the same AET. This was an OEM default several years ago when the equipment was installed. Due to the age and instability of the software, I am unable to edit the AET of the device without killing the communication to the CR plate reader. Is there anyway that the same AET can be used more than once within the pacsone software so long as the IP address is different? Perhaps a parameter change?

Unfortunately the current Dicom standards uses only the AE Title information to refer to a specific device or application, e.g., the Query/Retrieve SOP class uses only the Destination AE Title to send the selected patients/studies, which implies you cannot have multiple devices/applications sharing the same AE Title.

If you cannot change the AE Title for any of those devices you mentioned, you can check if they perform any kind of AE Title validation for incoming Dicom associations, e.g., when PacsOne Server sends Dicom images to those devices, do they check if the Called AE Title information in the Dicom association sent from PacsOne matches with its configured AE Title? If not, then you can safely assign a different AE Title in the Dicom AE page of PacsOne Server for those devices, so that PacsOne can keep track of them separately when sending images to those devices.
