My institution is upgrading servers and I've found that some linux distribution are migrating from MySQL to MariaDB. SLES 12SP1 comes with MariaDB as standar DB engine.
My question is:
Can I install PacsOne on MariaDB?
and another one
Should I?
Or is better to install MySQL and then PacsOne, even when doing it means kepping "old software". I don't want to open a philosofical discussion, only mean that newer distros are migrating to MariaDB.
Thanks
Jorge
PacsOne and MariaDB
Re: PacsOne and MariaDB
MariabDB is not officially supported but if you must run MariabDB, it's supposed to be binary compatible with MySQL so all you need to do is to un-install MySQL and install MariaDB, and everything else can stay the same/run fine with MariaDB in the back end.
We'll eventually migrate PacsOne Server from MySQL to MariaDB, but our customer base may not like the underlying technologies to evolve too fast, since by the time they finish training their personnel they don't want to see the stuff they just completed training is now obsolete.
