Multiple Pacsone servers

Post by acolburn » Wed Oct 22, 2003 3:16 am

I have not tried it and was wondering if anyone knows if you can have multiple pacsone servers running on one machine on different ports.

It's possible to add this feature, but is it worth the extra complexities?

Any benefits for adding this feature?

multiple pacsone server

There would be a benefit for me. I have been asked if there were a way to have a different db for different facilities. We use Pacsone for one client like a seudo modaility worklist. Now another client likes what we do and we need a way for two clients to retrieve only their patients. Due to the way modailty worklists and patient searches work, it would make sense to be able to install multiple Pacsone servers using different databases and listening on different ports. When an external client uses their patient search, they are asked for AETitle, IP address and port. With multiple Pacsones services running with each a unique database and listening on different ports, that would really expand the functionality of this product. Would also solve your problem posted in another post with multiple doctors. Each doctor could have their own db listening on a different port.

This is a very good post and I agree this feature will expand the functionalities of PacsOne. I'll move this feature up in my TO-DO list and I'll post a beta-test request once this feature has been implemented.

Multiple PacsOne sessions

One way would be to move the PacsOne start-up parameters from the windows registry to an *.INI file localized in the PacsOne installation directory. Then just make installations to different dirs. Of course the INI files would have to be different with regards tot ports, AE titles, databases etc. If someone absolutely want to run multiple sessions of PacsOne this would be a possibility..

Another thing is : as far as I can see the dicom-server is hard-coded to look for databases on the local-host only (correct me if I'm wrong).
It would be nice to have the possibility to set up the server using another (safe) host..

Again, great software.

Thanks, Eirk, for your kind words.

This feature is being beta-tested and will be available soon. (but may no longer be free, though. )

Is this feature implemented in current version of PacsOne 3.1.8 ?
If not, can I run two serwers as different users (WinXP Pro)?
I understand I'll need to buy two licenses but only one machine :)

Yes, PacsOne Server supports running multiple instances on the same server ever since version 2.x, but you do need a multiple-instance license to run multiple instances of PacsOne Server.

If you are running on a trial license and you want to try multiple-instances, you can send it to: mailto:pacsone@pacsone.net and we will create a multi-instance trial license for your server.
