Changing Dicom Info

Post by peter » Fri May 05, 2006 3:07 pm

Hi,
Newbie here. I have a question about what (if anything) folks are doing to change info in a stored file. For example: If a tech inputs an incorrect ID number, how do you go about correcting that info? Is there some kind of Dicom editor out there?

Thanks,
Peter

PacsOne has a Resolve Duplicate Patient ID tool (URL-linked from the Tools page) when there is a patient id conflicts where the same patient id is shared by different patient names. It allows the user to choose the correct patient name, or assign a new patient id to resolve the conflict, and then change the corresponding raw Dicom images with the corrected information.

If you need to modify individual Dicom files directly, there are some Dicom tools that can modify the Dicom headers, e.g., DicomWorks:

Hi,
The "Resolve Duplicate Patient ID" tool sounds very helpful if there is another patient with the same ID, but what's to be done if there is a data entry error that doesn't result in a duplicate?

Cheers,
Peter

It is usually too late to change the information after the images have been received, since the images may have already been propagated to other systems so it probably won't help much even if you can modify the information locally on PacsOne.

The ideal fix is to address the errors from the source where the images were created, and then re-send the images to PacsOne and any other destination where the same images were sent before.
