Already existing pics on my ultrasound need to be transferd

Post by nangelgr » Sat Aug 01, 2009 2:45 am

Hi there
as I am a newbee in the area, may I ask you a question please
(also this is the first time ever using forum!!!, so be patient please :)

I own an ultrasound machine that I ve been using for almost a year now saving the patients exams on its hard drive.
I only recently discovered that the machine has DICOM.

My question is
is it possible to transfer all this data to the pacsOne server?
As my hard drive has started filling up is there any other suggestion, other than backing it up on my computers hard disk. To be honest, I have already back it up, but would I be possible to recreate the ultrasounds database on my pc's hard disk so to carry on saving new patients data on the pc's drive instead?

I am sorry if I have confused you

I look forward to hearing from you

Thanx a million for your time

There are many ways to transfer the images stored on your US device to PacsOne Server:

1. If the US device supports the Dicom protocol, you can simply create an AE for the US device from the Application Entity page of PacsOne Server, then send all of the Dicom images from the US device to PacsOne Server.

2. If the US device stores its images in the standard Dicom Part-10 format, then you can simply transfer all of the raw Dicom images into a local folder where PacsOne Server is installed (e.g., via FTP, portable USB drive, etc.), then have PacsOne Server import from that local folder to parse all of the raw Dicom images into the database.

(I hope that I will be doing that when I manage to setup the server)

then send all of the Dicom images from the US device to PacsOne Server
(how can I do that?).

Does this US device has a <Send> button for the user to send the selected patients/studies/series/images to a remote Dicom AE (such as PacsOne Server)? You may have to look up the users' manual for this device and see if it supports sending images to a remote AE.

I think so
I will be checking that tomorrow as the uss is at my office

You mean that if it has a button to send to a dicom server that s what I have to press. Is that correct?

And my next question (you see I am a new bee here) is
My USS machine has various outputs at the rear panel. As far as I can recall there should be an ethernet as well. I am sure that there are a couple of USB as well.
Should I connect the ethernet port to the pc next to it? And if the answer is yes my next (and last I hope question) is...
That pc is on a LAN having its ethernet covered with the cable of the LAN!!!
Is there any solution to that?

I used to be a software developer using C++ some time ago...
My solution could be to connect it to the modem router which is in the centre of the LAN but that would make the thinks more complicated...
So, how would it be possible to connect my USS machine to the PC that is part of a LAN via ethernets....

Do I make your life miserable? cause mine has started being so....
:)

Thanx alot for your prompt reply anyway

Seems like you need to look-up or review the users' manual for your US machine, and find the instructions about how to connect it to a LAN.
