Ignore Duplicates

Post by rpayne » Thu Aug 01, 2013 4:51 pm

Can you configure PACSONE to ignore duplicate instances? When receiving an image or SR DICOM report, if you receive one with all of the exact same DICOM tags as one previously received can you have PACSONE ignore this instance?

If you have an auto route setup for one AE Title to Another, you receive an instance and that instance is forwarded per your auto route, if the same instance is received again it is routed again creating duplicates on PACSONE and on the target AE. Can the duplicate just be ignored or denied?

Thanks

PACSONE does not display duplicate instances. If I receive one image then later receive the same image again PACSONE only displays the image once, it knows the 2nd was a duplicate, but how do I stop the 2nd instance from being auto routed?

If the same instance (whether or not it's a duplicate) is received and it meets one of the routing rule criteria, then it will be routed according to that routing rule.

The duplicates have nothing to do with the automatic routing, as they generally result from lack of a centralized source where all patient demographics are assigned. For example, if the technicians at the input modalities have to enter the Patient Name manually, it's quite common for humans to enter the names differently even for the same patient, thus resulting in the duplicates.
